Writing it and spelling it right! |

Structure CVA Annual National Spelling Bee consists of an individual competition where participants spell English words. There are several categories, with a progressive complexity according to the participants' current proficiency level:
The competition has 3 phases. First two are Preliminaries. The last one is the Final phase. An experienced group of teachers with a wide experience in EFL programs evaluate the participants' performance. Detailed guidelines on the evaluation procedure within the competition are detailed in the CVA Annual National Spelling Bee Official Rules. Download the CVA Annual National Spelling Bee Official Rules To dowload: right-click the link; choose the "SAVE TARGET AS..." option from the menu and specify the file path where you will save document in your computer. These rules are adapted from the original Scripps National Spelling Bee, a nation-wide competition celebrated every year in the U.S. During Preliminary Rounds (which comprise Dictation and Spelling) students' performance is ranked based on accumulative points assigned by the Jury each time they give a correct answer. Students with the highest rankings are the ones who will go on to the Final phase. The Final Round is organized in consecutive spelling rounds, by category. In a "Fail & Out" procedure, participants within each category are progressively eliminated until reaching verdicts for a First, Second and Third Place per category. |
